Mei is a professor of Souami-Ryu Ikebana and is currently wring a book on the Zen qualities behind the Shinso Souami’s art of Ikebanan that is capable of ultimately invoking graceful tension in the most harmonious and balanced ways.
Mei Yao was bestowed with the opportunity to study under the direct guidance of the current headmaster, the 21st Iemoto Yokoch Gahou. Through Yokochi sensei’s humble ways of expressing his art and gentle ways of taking care of his responsibilities as the torch bearer of this sacred form of floral art, Mei has experienced and is realizing anew every day, the breadth and depth of Shinso Souami’s way of flowers. His way of co-creating with the cut floral branches endows them to live again as a tranquilly graceful, albeit very brief and temporary, piece of Ikebana artwork. Lunch will be available for purchase.
Ginza will be held starting at 9:00AM
