The Joy of Cactus

  • Collegeville Club House (map)

Discover the fascinating and beautiful San Pedro cactus, Trichocereus pachanoi, and its close relatives, each with its own unique charm and character.

You’ll learn practical tips on care, cultivation, and propagation, from rooting, cuttings, to growing from seed.  We’ll also touch on the rich history of this remarkable cactus in botanical study, as well as its deeper roots in traditional Andean medicine and spiritual practice.  Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned grower, come share in the wonder of one of nature’s most iconic and resilient plants.  Various cultivars will be available for purchase.

Mike is a longtime gardener, mushroom grower, and cultivator.  His passion for cactus began seven years ago when he was gifted his first cutting of San Pedro.  Since then his collection has expanded to several hundred cacti, with which his wife and two children graciously share their home in Chester Springs.
